San Miguel del Bala is only 45 minutes by boat along the Beni River from the twin towns of Rurrenabaque and San Buenaventura. The Ecolodge offers a quiet and comfortable hideaway away from the bustle of theworld. San Miguel del Bala is located in the most biodiverse regions on the planet; Madidi National Park. The lodge is built with materials taken from the rainforest, and it is designed in accordance with local traditions and is fully sustainable and noninvasive to the surrounding environment. Staying at the San Miguel del Bala Ecolodge, visitors gain a unique insight into the indigenous lifestyle that has thrived here for thousands of years.
After being picked up at the airport in Rurrenabaque, we'll embark on a 40 minutes boat ride through the Beni River arriving at the San Miguel del Bala Ecolodge (includes a room with a private bathroom). A short boat ride and adventurous hike along a stream can be had once we've settled in. Swim and relax in a natural pool fed by a waterfall or simply relax and take in the sights and sounds of this diverse ecological setting. Walk to the San Miguel Community Tacana and discover architecture, customs and ethnic traditions as well as handicrafts. (Lunch, Dinner)
After breakfast, we begin day 2 with a boat trip to Caquiawara within the Madidi National Park, watch the many macaws while walking in the forest, fishing and or looking for the animal trails. A lunch will be had during the tour where visitors dine under the lush canopy of the Amazon Basin. Hiking through the rain forest, visitors are taught by indigenous guides about ancestral hunting techniques and medicinal recipes concocted from the surrounding environment. A night walk after dinner through the jungle gives visitors the chance to experience this amazing habitat at night, meeting its nocturnal inhabitants. We'll then return to our rooms at the San Miguel del Bala Ecolodge to spend the night listening to the many creatures stirring in the darkness. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
After breakfast, we enjoy a hike through an ancient forest where we visit areas with lots of fruits and salty soil that attracts animals. If we're lucky, we can witness a variety of animals emerge from the thickets to get a taste of the salty, mineral rich soil. We end in a long narrow canyon with some truly amazing rock formations before our transfer back to Rurrenabaque (Breakfast)
Included: Transfers in in Rurrenabaque, 2 nights in San Miguel del Bala ecolodge (room with private bathroom), food and transportation according to the program, local guide (only Spanish).
Not Included: Transfers to and from Rurrenabaque, Entrance fee to Madidi National Park (Bs. 125), Flight ticket from La Paz to Rurrenabaque and back, transfer from your hotel to the airport/airport to your hotel in La Paz, and airport taxes.
