The first day of your tour will begin with a pick up from your hotel in Puno (downtown hotels only, others at an extra charge). Once all the passengers have been collected you will start the 2.5 hour drive towards the Bolivian border at Kasani. After passing through immigration, you will continue on to the lakeside town of Copacabana. Once in Copacabana you will visit a unique Moorish style church that houses the Patron Virgin Mary of Bolivia as well as the small local market. Lunch will be served at Kota Kahuaña restaurant of Hotel Rosario Lago Titicaca. Following the meal, you will cruise Lake Titicaca by motorboat, heading towards the Sun Island. On the Sun Island you will visit some of Bolivia's most important archeological sites including the Pilkocaina temple, the Fountain and the Inca Staircase. After the Sun Island, the tour continues with a transfer to La Paz via shared tourist bus. On the way, you will cross the strait of Tiquina, which is the narrowest part of the Titicaca Lake, dividing the lake in two portions: Wiñaymarka and Chucuito. The drive will continue on through the scenic Altiplano, or High Plateau reaching La Paz city, where you will spend the night. (Accommodation in La Paz not included)
On day two of your Bolivian Break you will get to visit the fascinating archeological ruins of the pre-Incan Tiwanaku. On your tour of the site you will see the monolith Bennet as well as the famous Puerta del Sol, Kalasasaya Temple, the Pyramid of Akapana, the Semi-Subterranean Temple and the ceramic museum. The evening will be spent in La Paz on your own.
In the morning transfer to the local bus station where your guide will explain to you how to reach Uyuni. A local bus will transport you to the city of Oruro where you will then catch a train to Uyuni. Please note, the train option is only available on Tuesdays and Friday. Your guide will meet you at the train station in Uyuni for your transfer to the hotel for the evening.
Day four begins early with a stop at Uyuni's Train Cemetery. The cemetery has become somewhat of a large adult playground, where visitors can climb and explore the defunct trains. From there the tour continues on to Colchani village, known for its salt processing plants. After a quick tour of one of the salt facilities you will continue on to the exclusive Palacio de Sal & Spa, the first hotel in the world made fully out of salt. Following the hotel visit, it is on to the great salt flats. Stops include a visit to Los Ojos de Agua where you will witness the pyramid piles that result from manual salt extraction in the area. Afterwards you will continue onwards to Coquesa where you will visit a cave containing pre-Incan. After enjoying the spectacular view of the salt flats from the base of the Thunupa Volcano you will head back to Uyuni where you will catch the night bus to La Paz.
After arriving in La Paz you will be transferred to your hotel or depending on your itinerary to a transportation station where your Bolivian Break will end.
