La Paz to Salar de Uyuni Highlights:

The tour will begin in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile with a transfer to the Bolivian border at Hito Cajón. After going through immigration you will continue on towards the renowned Laguna Verde or Green Lagoon. Adding to the stunning visual scenery of the bright green water is the Licancabur Volcano which towers over the lagoon at a height of 5960 meters. From there you will head towards the Laguna Colorada. On the way, you will pass through the Dali Desert, named after the surrealist painter whose work it inspired, the Chalviri thermal waters and the Geysers "Sol de Mañana". The Laguna Colorada, also known as the Red Lagoon, which is famous for the James flamingos, a species indigenous and unique to the Andean region. In addition to wildlife, the lagoon is known for the high borax content of the water which leaves what is commonly referred to as the "Perennial Ice" on the cover of the water. Continue the trip passing by the famous Stone Tree, a natural volcanic formation in the middle of the Siloli dessert. Finally you will be driven to "Ojo de Perdiz" Hotel, where you will spend the night.
After breakfast the tour continues with a scenic drive through the Siloli Desert. Along the way you will stop at a few smaller lagoons including Ramaditas, Honda, Hedionda, Chiar Khota and Cañapa. After visiting this area, we will enter into the Salt Flats of Uyuni, considered one of the largest salt reserve in the world. Around sunset you will arrive at community of Tahua around sunset where you will spend the night at Tayka Salt Hotel.
Departing Tahua after breakfast, the tour continues with a stop at Coquesa, where you will visit a cave containing pre-Incan mummies. From there, you will continue on across the vast salt flats towards the cactus covered Inca Wasi (also referred to as Incahuasi or Fish Island). At the island you will be amazed by the formations and views created by the centuries old gigantic cacti. Following the hike around Inca Wasi, you will visit the village of Colchani and get to tour one of the salt processing plants the settlement is known for. In addition, you will make a stop at the Palacio de Sal Hotel, the first hotel in the world to be constructed entirely out of salt. After the hotel tour you will head towards Uyuni where shower and rest facilities will be made available before your train to Oruro which will depart just past midnight.
Arrive in Oruro at around 07:00 and transfer to the bus station where you will board local transportation and continue on to La Paz. Breakfast is not included.
